Here's someone else's review of the show: Date: Tue, 5 Oct 1999 13:53:24 PDT From: Diane Wong Subject: Tower Theater, Philly 10/4 Review Hey peoples, Rose Polenzani opened with quite of few of her fans' favorites, including a couple new ones. Most of the crowd talked during her set, and it was disturbing. But I enjoyed her and Goody jamming together so sweetly. (Setlist: 1st one I was late for/omen/heaven release us/"when I was young...(don't know this one)"/seven/parhelion/olga's birthday.) Rose did a "I am an only child..." line to which the crowd responded. Hearing Omen, after listening to Shelley's cover, was haunting. It was simply amazing to see the Girls in concert again, and at such a great venue! Their setlist: Go Get Out the Map Chickenman Peace Tonight This Train Revised Andy Ozilline Least Complicated Shed Your Skin Closer to Fine Sister Power of Two Faye Tucker Cold Beer and Remote Control Compromise Ghost Shame On You Encore: Or with Rose Polenzani on lead, A&E backup, and Goody with the great solo Kid Fears Galileo Highlights of the night: They really seemed to enjoy the crowd participation, especially on LC, CTF, PO2, Kid Fears. Amy was kicking up her heels on Faye Tucker during the solo instrumental parts, and that Caroline Dale really is stunning on her cello solos! Carol Issacs is so multi-talented--the penny whistle on CTF, the piano intro on Power of Two, etc.--she had a wax candle lit by her synthesizer. The drummer, Mr. Ben Cummings, was marvelous as well--loved the lighting when they mentioned 'gold' in the bridge and lit up BC in gold. Clare Kenney kicked it on bass. They said the generic stuff between songs, like this one Amy wrote for her grandma; thanks for listening to the new stuff; sing along, etc. A nice roadie gave me Clare's guitar pic and B.C.'s setlist after the show. It was great to meet Michal Rogson, Neil's wife Andi, Jill(the other Jill) and her gf and friend; and really lots of fun seeing Jilly C., and spending the night at Neil and Andi's. Steph, Andi(Steph's friend and the one with the great website), *j, Neil, Michal, and I among others waited in the pouring rain to see the girls walk over to their bus after the show. Both of them signed autographs, like was already mentioned. What also got me thinking was how Amy could sing Shed Your Skin and Faye Tucker in one night; in addition to Chickenman and TTR, and Sister. Compromise and Soon To Be Nothing have been alternating on my brain playlist. Between rocking out and contemplating death quietly it's quite a bipolar experience. oh, and I..ummm...*laugh* dressed like an energizer pink bunny without the battery back, and brought along a stuffed animal white dog because I wanted them to perform "We Are Together", an admittedly corny track. (the chorus goes: "the dog caught up with the rabbit is laughing hysterically..." Emily said when I asked her about it, that they hadn't learned that song yet. During the show, Emily gave me an alarmed look, and then both of them glanced my way a couple of times. (I was in the 2nd row on Em's side.) That's it from the peanut gallery. Thanks Neil and Andi for the hospitality. Diane
